Law Offices of Matthew G. English

An Experienced
Employment Law Trial Attorney

A Civil Law Attorney With Two Decades Of Courtroom Experience

The Law Offices of Matthew G. English has been serving employees, including federal and state government employees, students, teachers, professors, and small-business owners across San Diego County and throughout California since 2006.

My name is Matthew English, founder of the firm and its sole attorney. When you hire my firm, you’ll work directly with me and gain the benefit of my more than 20 years of legal experience. You’ll also have an attorney who understands the value of listening first. It sounds like a simple concept, but too many attorneys fail to pay attention to what they hear from clients and other parties to the litigation. I listen intently to you and what you need. And I keep listening (to everyone) throughout trial prep and the trial process to ensure that I give you the strongest representation possible.

A Trial Attorney Ready For Whatever Your Case Requires

While all attorneys can practice in the courtroom, not all lawyers are trial attorneys. I am. In law school, I graduated with honors in trial advocacy. I am licensed to practice in all state trial and appellate courts in California as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Southern District and Central District of California. Perhaps most importantly, I have considerable experience in both jury trials and “bench” trials (those where a judge decides the outcome).

When you hire my San Diego law firm, you can rest assured that I won’t hesitate to take your case to trial if that’s what will best serve your interests. However, if a lesser intervention (such as a negotiated settlement) will achieve great results while also saving you time, money and stress, we can decide together to utilize that option instead. I am committed to the legal remedy that gets you the best result while also being mindful of limiting factors like budget and time.
